Adventure Day Camp at YMCA Camp Bernie is a thrilling, active day camp program for boys and girls entering grades K-11. Our weekly sessions allow campers to enjoy and explore everything our beautiful 275-acre facility has to offer. We believe that a camp experience provides children with the unique opportunity to try new things, and discover who they truly are. We will help children to make new friends, build memories and to challenge themselves daily.

    Philosophy
Our day camp program is intentionally designed for campers to have fun while realizing their individual and collective potential. YMCA Camp Bernie provides an exciting, safe community for campers to enjoy the outdoors and build lifelong memories and friendships. Our incredible variety of activities allows campers to build confidence, try new things and have fun. A combination of personal choice activities and scheduled programming means that campers have the freedom to customize their experience.

    Staff
Our staff are positive role models who are extensively pre-screened and trained to ensure that all counselors are mature, patient, skilled and responsible.

    Activities
Activities including swimming, arts and crafts, basketball, archery, climbing tower, volleyball, canoeing, mountain biking and much, much more.

    Resilience Building
Today’s children face more stressful situations than we can imagine.  Kids often react by indulging in unhealthy behaviors.  As parents and childcare providers, we feel the need to protect them, but we must remember that our goal is to prepare them to be happy and productive adults.  YMCA Camp Bernie focuses on helping campers to build the 7 C’s:  competence, confidence, connection, character, contribution, coping, and control in order to better deal with stressful situations.  Together we can raise successful children who will make their unique and substantial contributions to the world.

These one week sessions focus on our most advanced challenge elements and other camp activities, as well as some leadership opportunities--it’s all about excitement! O.W.Ls, or Outstanding Weekly Leaders, is our way to show our older campers that there’s a place for them here at Camp Bernie that allows them to make their mark on camp like never before!

    USAI Fellowships

Host an International Camper and your camper attends for FREE!

USA Immersion is a local not-for-profit organization offering fellowships to attend Camp Bernie YMCA Day Camp for free to those families interested in participating in their international cultural immersion program. Local families benefit from this program when they welcome in their homes an international student attending Camp Bernie YMCA Day Camp. In return, both the international students and our local kids benefit from the opportunity to learn about each other’s cultures while attending Day Camp together.
